Here are a couple of pictures from today (Saturday). We went into Beijing today to be tourists. The first one is of the Temple of Heaven. The second one is me at the "center of the universe". This spot is surrounded by 9 marble tile rings which symbolize 9 heavens.
We also went shopping at the Hong Qiao Market. That was a wild experience. We had to haggle for everything. I haggled twice in Chinese and was successful! There are several floors of booths packed with jewelry, clothes, purses, souvenirs, all kinds of trinkets. The sales people grab you and pull you into their booth, and will not let you leave until you buy something. There's no such thing as browsing....they keep shoving things in your face to try to get you to buy it. It was stressful and exhausting, but overall a fun experience and I came away with a few things!Before coming back to PHF, we went to a show and saw Chinese acrobats. They did some amazing stunts that did not even seem possible. It was a fantastic show.
